About Our Artists
Gianna Palanca is a painter and illustrator, and creates mural commissions that are primarily decorative and full of pattern and color. Gianna says, “For my own pleasure I produce absurd and comical art that often provides a satirical way to explain my worldviews as a young artist. My most recent project was the facade of the west bay cultural center.”
Gianna is currently working on a piece for the origin stories project about revelation and identity.
A Hui Chinese American artist based in the Bay Area, SheI Zhu’s work involves interrogating the social, cultural, and political implications of her identities but also has been heavily influenced by political and social movements such as Indigenous sovereignty movements. Shel likes to incorporate the use of multiple languages in her work as a way to express her multilingual upbringing, which is a manifestation of a need to communicate and be understood in a way that crosses linguistic boundaries.
