Yasmin Lambie-Simpson’s show "The Mystic Urban Waterfront” marks the first art opening at Pier 23 Cafe in too many years, a return of art to this waterfront joint of lore. Immersed in a self-directed art retreat, Yasmin has been exploring and creating new work inspired by her specific location on San Francisco’s still hardworking and very urban Islais Creek.
Our urban waterfront has an inseparable importance and presence in the life of this City and its residents. And that includes Pier 23 Cafe. Yasmin’s work takes a specific look at that part of our marine landscape that crosses Third Street just before Evans Avenue.
As a waterfront bar and restaurant since its very beginning, Pier 23 Cafe is thrilled to display this art inspired by another neighborhood on the City’s waterfront. This is the first exhibition at Pier 23 Cafe’s newly minted, Waterfront Gallery. Stay tuned for upcoming art shows.
